It is quite rare to find figuring like this in a slab of Mesquite anywhere in the state and I believe it is unlikely that I'll ever see another one with this combinations of grain and figure. This tabletop has a cathedral grain orientation, with tiger and bird's eye characteristics. I stabilized the top by hand chiseling then recessing two hidden "bowties" into the bottom of the slab. I greatly prefer this traditional method vs. the current trend of just pouring gallons of boat epoxy over everything.
I wanted to ensure this table was as unique as the person who purchased it so I hand cut a design into the Tiger Maple legs on each side .
