Although a Louisiana girl, I have been in Spring Texas for many years. It is home now.
My love of art began when I was still in coloring books and crayons, though I did not realize the joy it would bring me later on. As I grew older I only knew I had to draw or paint or both and right away!! I began in the watercolor medium ; and can’t get away from it! The transparent colors flowing over the white of the paper inspire me even before the excitement of the subject is determined. I revel in the purity of color, the brilliance and light, never tiring of the medium itself. I am drawn to light and shadow as well as the colors that surround me. The beauty of God’s creation is everywhere I look ; and there is always something drawing me to paint it. From flowers to people to palm trees ,etc., I continue to be excited and see subject matter all around me. I am thankful for the opportunity to paint and paint and paint!!!
My education in art has come from the many well known teachers I have had the privilege to study with in workshops and classes; including Shirley Sterling, Marge Brichler, A.J, Shexnader, Carla O’Conner Stephen Quiller, Don Getz, Ching Khee Chee, Judy Betts and others. And alsofrom my many years of experience. I have won many awards, including “Best of Show”. I am an Elite Signature member of the Watercolor Art Society-Houston; and have been a teacher for the monthly “Paint-In” there. I also teach workshops and it is so wonderful to see the joy of learning students who discover that elusive technique or bit of knowledge when it is finally realized.
