Jeffrey L. Elgin
Jeffrey L. Elgin, Professor Emeritus, Skidmore College, was born in Westlake, Ohio in 1943. His formal training in painting and drawing was at the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio (BS, M.F.A.) and Cincinnati Art Academy, Cleveland Institute of Art. His work is included in numerous private collections and 21 public collections including: Albany Institute of History and Art, Dayton Museum of Art, State University of New York, Ball State University, West Publishing Company, Clemson University, Trenton State College, Washington and Jefferson College, University of North Dakota. He has participated in 29 solo exhibitions including: Albany Center Galleries, Schenectady Museum, Colby-Sawyer College, Oklahoma Art Center, Hartwick College, St. Lawrence University and in March 2015 exhibited 85 recent works at Skidmore College. Additionally, his work has been included in 110 group and invited exhibitions. He is the recipient of grants and awards including two New York Foundation for the Arts Artist's Fellowship Grants in Painting, twenty-seven Skidmore College Faculty Research Grants, and twenty-five purchase or jurors awards, and has been a guest artist at 15 arts institutions.
