Basically I'm a self-taught artist. I always had a strong interest in art and took it to another level with an inspiring High School art teacher. Fast forward 10 years without doing any art, I purchased an Air Brush and that actually got me a job as an artist at a map company in Houston. I worked there for a year, took some drafting courses in college, then went to work for Exxon as a Draftsman. I worked with many other artists in the Graphics Group. This was an era of pre-automation and computers and I was able to use so many actual painting techniques and tools.
I use acrylics most of the time. I find acrylics are most forgiving and my philosophy is "if you don't like it, paint over it" and acrylics work well for that. My idea of a great painting is when my viewers and buyers say "Wow!" "How'd he do that?" Creating art is always an experiment (some good, some not so good). When it comes to commissioned pieces and portraits, I know what the end-result will be. My art has to have an artistic twist to it, yet capture the image of what the buyer is after. If you have a photo of something and you would like to have a custom painting done, contact me. Let's talk about size, color pallet the wall it will hang on, etc.
Working with other artists and being a member of DaVinci Artist Gallery in Tomball, Texas allows me to see many different (15) styles and exposes me to other subject matters. The gallery is also gives me a location to have Paint and Sip Parties. I can host a party of 25 or less, to have your own private painting party. I'll supply canvases, paints, easels, aprons and everything you'll need to have a fun, memorable party.
