Born and raised in Southern California, David started painting water colors at age seven. His formal art training began at age twelve with noted California watercolorists, Rex Brandt, Phil Dyke and George Post.
David is a graduate of the University of Redlands in Redlands, CA, where he received a BFA Degree in 1967. He then attended Clairemont Graduate School in Clairemont, CA majoring in painting, but spent the next 33 years as a federal agent with Army Intelligence and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, retiring in 2002.
In 2014, David and his wife, Karen, moved to Houston,TX. The move resulted in much more time to paint, adding acrylics as another medium. David’s paintings trend toward a bright color palette having been influenced by Mexican Folk Art. David paints subjects that appeal to him instead of sticking with a particular theme.
His paintings are now in numerous collections including the Estate of President George H.W. Bush and First Lady, Barbara Bush, the Megin-Franco Collection, Portland, and the Faye Patterson-Bullitt Collection, LaJolla, Ca. Fast has also exhibited at various venues to include, San Diego, Los Angeles, Bucks County, PA, Tomball German Festival, AG Antiques in the Heights, Painted Tree Stores in Sugar Land and Champions.
