Recently, forty energetic and inquisitive honor art students and their teachers from Magnolia West High School stopped by the Art Studios for a symposium on the role of Da Vinci Gallery in the community and in an artist’s life.
Hilda Rueda,Visual Artist, and Sande Larson, Potter, demonstrated how their studios worked while giving the students information on the life of the artist. The students were split into two groups and spent an hour with each artist. Questions flowed from a variety of perspectives, befitting a group of budding artists, after which each student created a design on a tile, using a live model, with Hilda and manipulated a lump of clay to create a small sculpture, mask or face with Sande. The students were open and receptive and from their involvement and the pieces they created, we will be seeing beautiful works of art from this next generation of artists.
