Barbara Cooledge, B.F.A, M.F.A.
A native Texan, Barbara Blackburn Cooledge, has also lived in Oklahoma, Missouri, and Massachusetts. She started feeling like an artist around age six when her mother took her to the local art association where her mother made art with friends and exhibited. Some of Barbara’s best work was done in high school winning several youth awards in competitions in the state of Oklahoma. She earned her B.F.A. from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1981 in painting and printmaking.
Barbara earned her M.F.A. from Boston University in painting in 1986. She created large scale nonobjective and expressionistic work for her thesis exhibition. She also did etching and intaglio at that time. Barbara took from recognized artists, but always wanted to be herself. Influenced describes some of her development. She loved to study art history and art works in museums. Her bodies of work have ranged in many different genres or styles (sometimes at the same time). www.artbycooledge.weebly.com www.artbycooledge.com |
