April TurgutalpGrowing up, I carried a poetry book, music notebook and a drawing pad. I have always been fond of the right side of my brain, trying to interpret my reality to others through my artwork. I have endless ideas waiting to be poured out onto canvas, where you can openly view my humor, a little bit of insanity, and loads of creativity. A few of my accomplishments in life have been: CEO of a software company, teakwondo Yellow belt, fluent in Turkish, PTK member, Lone Star college honor roll student, cultural competency award, carpenters apprentice, a whole bunch of other really boring stuff, and now I’d really like to succeed where my heart is, art. Nothing has made sense in my world, so my paintings are a reflection of that.
Artist statement: “It’s okay to be a little crazy, as long as you funnel that craziness into something positive and productive. “ |
